Since Bearnoises, released in 2016 exclusively on CD in Japan, I have had a special relationship with the Land of the Rising Sun. The fans and the press over there were very generous and nice to me when I released The Last Album and I’d like to continue this cultural connection.
I have always been influenced by Japanese musicians like Yann Tomita, Yoshinori Sunahara, and the recently departed Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yukihiro Takahashi. But recently, more than ever, their work inspired me and I’m working on a new collection of tracks that show that. Expect ambient resonances, glitch haiku vocals and low-frequency melodies. I’m assembling the puzzle together and deciding what track goes where, and which story I’m trying to tell.
